Highland Energy Community Partnership
Community Engagement Development Day
Imagine If were delighted to be invited to support the core team gathering momentum out on the Highland Energy Communities Project (HECP), led by Lochbroom and Ullapool Community Trust (LUCT).
The workshop was held in the welcoming Braemore Village Hall, bringing everyone together in one room to connect and share ideas. HECP is a five-year, £1.5m National Lottery funded project that brings together six Highland communities, all determined to work together to lower energy costs and cut carbon emissions for local homeowners. Partners include Changeworks, Home Energy Scotland, the University of the Highlands and Islands, and Highland Council.
On the day, we guided the group through discussions and activities to begin shaping an engagement strategy, as well as trying out games such as Climania to spark conversations about retrofit.
Most importantly, the workshop gave the core project team space to talk about what success might look like for their communities and to start building an action plan to set the project in motion and sow the seeds of a lasting legacy.

“Thanks very much for such an inspiring day! Great fun and thought provoking. You brought so much more than we knew we needed :) Materials, contacts, humour...”
“So impressed with your knowledge & ideas. Felt workshop was tailored to exactly what we needed. Thanks for a brilliantly inspiring day which you gently led us through. Absolutely loved it :)”
“Great structure, useful tools, excellent facilitation, inspiring and empowering - thank you!“
“A huge thanks for leading such a productive and interesting session. You gave us all much to think about, but also a sense of direction and next steps. You got the vibe of the group, giving us all space to express ourselves, but you also kept us focused on the agenda and made sure we covered everything that we needed to. The art of the good facilitator :) You also demonstrated passion and expertise about the issues of home energy and heating. And thanks too for the 'extras' - the resource pack for each of the energy officers was a really nice touch.” - Nick Tatchell. Sustainable Futures Group, LUCT
