NATURE WALKS

Imagine If ... there were more trees in Edinburgh. Places where you can feel totally immersed in nature is rare in cities, fortunately Edinburgh has loads of public parks where you can surround yourself with lots of trees and meander along muddy tracks.

There are also lots of old disused railway lines across Edinburgh which could become cycle ways or more meandering paths providing routes through the city for those long Sunday strolls away from busy roads.

Tree planting in cities can help to improve the air quality. Take a look at Edinburgh's tree map for a view of the number of trees in the city.

Kate McLean has made a smell map of Edinburgh which shows how impactful the smell of nature can be on our experience of the city.
