RE-Circle Machine

Imagine If... the space under a viaduct could be used to transform a neighbourhood.

The RE-Circle Machine project is a story of Regeneration, Renovation, and Revolution of the neighborhood of Tradeston, Glasgow by Edoardo Pilati.

Tradeston can rediscover its past industrial personality and adapt it to become a global example of a circular economy neighbourhood, where green manufacturing and people coexist healthily for a: NEW INTERACTIVE, GREEN ECONOMY.

The ‘RE-circle Machine’ is a versatile structure made to be easily disassembled, with recyclable materials and on a ‘recycled’ site. The building reuses the space under the M8 Viaduct and aims to become an economic, as well as social, part of the neighbourhood.

The Machine collects waste from the surroundings, it produces recycled raw materials, and it provides spaces for manufacturing clothes, as well as social and commercial spaces to boost the green business.

A second stage of the project envisions recycling the entire viaduct by closing it to cars and transforming it into a Green belt for bikers and pedestrians.

This is the RE-Circle Machine, a factory that transforms waste into goods, and an interactive experience where you can learn how not to waste… waste. "
